Camp and Tulip Insurance

CAMPS: The University has accident insurance available for various camps and activities.  This insurance is supplemental and the premiums are paid for by the department sponsoring the camp.  The premiums are based on the number of participants, number of days, and type of activities.

TULIP: The University now has liability insurance available for vendors, performers and other parties involved in events on UCF property and who do not carry their own liability insurance.  This policy is not automatic and must be set up prior to the event.

Both of these insurance policies are managed by the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA).  Both policies have online applications and the premiums can be paid by credit card.  Please contact Steve Mammino for more information.

Electronic Data Processing

(EDP)

The Electronic Data Processing, or EDP policy, is an all-risk policy managed by the Department of Management Services for UCF owned computers and peripheral equipment.  It can cover computers and all equipment used to electronically exchange data, i.e. Cash-to-Card machines and projectors.  The policy provides coverage for leased as well as owned equipment.  The primary benefit of the policy is that theft is covered.  The UCF Property Insurance Policy only covers acts of nature or fire, not theft. The policy provides coverage by department.  For example, a department can cover ALL of its computer equipment and projectors, not just certain pieces. There is a reasonable charge for this coverage.  Since the premiums are based on the equipment showing up on the property list, only the EDP equipment valued at $1,000 or more is covered.  We encourage all departments to apply for EDP insurance.  Please contact Steve Mammino for more information.

Miscellaneous Property Insurance

The Miscellaneous Property (MP) Insurance primarily covers equipment which is not owned by the University of Central Florida, and has been leased or loaned.  This policy is also used to insure artwork and other valuables not covered under the state's Property Insurance  The maximum amount per item on the Miscellaneous Property policy is $50,000.  Additional policies are available for items of higher value.  Please contact Steve Mammino for more information.

 Proof of Insurance

There have been instances in which UCF employees driving state vehicles have been involved in accidents and did not have proof of insurance (POI) in the state car.  Just as when driving your own vehicle, you must carry POI in state owned cars.  If you do not have it and are involved in an accident, or are pulled over for another reason, you can be cited.  The insurance certificate can be found on the Risk Management and Insurance section of the EH&S website, under Insurance Certificates.

You only need to print the first page (certificate) for proof.  The other pages are supporting information about the coverage.  Remember, this policy is liability coverage only and does not pay for damage to the car.  Contact Steve Mammino if you need further information.
